Montessori Centre Bonavista​- -Kindergarten Teacher

  • Created French and First Nations curriculum and Montessori activities for all 5 schools.

  • Aided in before, and after school care for students aged 5-10

  • Helped create a smooth transition as this was a mid-year coverage.

  • My first year at this Alberta accredited international school I worked as an in-house substitute teacher until I transitioned into a grade 2 position.

  • Created an inquiry based units based on student interest that helped a highly inclusive student body thrive.

​

  • Created ongoing teacher training for staff interested in better understanding and or creating inquiry based units.

  • During my first practicum I spent time at this unique charter school that houses grades four through nine. 

​

  • This school emphasizes the use of inquiry and experiential learning and allows students a self-directed method of education.  

 

 

 

 

​Calgary Science Center - Workshop Coordinator

  • As a workshop facilitator I was responsible for teaching small groups of children various science projects. 

​

  • By engaging children through experimentation and utilizing technology we work with the students previous knowledge and creativity to teach fundamentals in science and math.

Hopewell High School - Arts Coordinator

  • At this orphanage I worked with grades 1-12 in creative writing and English language skills. In helping children understand the art of story in text I cultivated their creative and critical thinking skills. 

​

  • ​We also worked on various art projects that reflected the stories they wrote but also captured their feelings and their unique perspective of the world around them. 

 

 

 

Escuela Guillaumin - Gr. 3 & 6 English Humanities Classes                                        

Veracruz, Mexico, 2003

 

  • For the school year I worked with grades 3 and 6 teaching humanities including: Phonics, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Art. In this 50/50 bilingual model of education I created specific learner profiles for the students to enhance proficiency in the English. 

​

  • Working within this unique location, I added a class for the grade 6 students entitled Global Studies, to further analyze the world around them. This course highlighted major international figures and philosophers such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Pablo Friere.
